Podcasts Recomendations

Those of you who have known me for a while, probably know I’m a podcast junky. Driving to work is basically wasted time unless I’m using the time for phone calls I need to make. With about 45 minutes commute each way, I looked for something else to listen to except these morning and afternoon radio shows and music. So I started listening to podcasts in the car quite a few years ago, probably around 5 or 6 years. I started with one of the most popular podcasts in Hebrew about technology (making history, if you are Hebrew speaker, you can see it here). Then a few others.
In this post, I’d really like to introduce you to a couple of podcasts that I found very interesting, and relevant for me. They might be relevant for you too, and since I like it so much, I decided to write about it.

The first podcast is “Security Now“. This is a very “nerdy” podcast, talking about IT and technology in general and technology security specifically. Steve Gibson has tremendous knowledge and with Leo Laporte (owner of the TWIT network) they have been presenting this weekly podcast since 2005 with hardly missing a show! There are episodes that didn’t tell me anything new, talking about how computers work, networking, etc. But there are some fascinating episodes as well about newly discovered worms and vulnerabilities, encryption, the Snowden revelations and much more. If you are a real nerd and like security, it’s a great podcast for you.
The second one is “Manager Tools“, a podcast I just recently started listening to and it’s unrelated to computers whatsoever. It is about managing your career and managing people. I find it very useful with how to handle situations and issues related to work effectiveness. Michael Auzenne and Mark Horstman are leading this podcast. They are both former Army officers and have a huge management experience. Their insights and way of thinking is inspiring and I recommend everyone (consultants, managers at all levels and even employees without any directs) listening to the episodes that most interest you, and there are a LOT.
There is so many episodes of these 2 podcasts, they have both been running since 2005 and have more than 500 episodes. If you like to listen to podcasts I’m sure you will find at least one of these very interesting.
Enjoy,
Liron
