Bye Bye Oracle Open World 2018

Oracle Open World 2018 has come to an end.
This was my 9th OOW (I’ve been attending OOW since 2010) and my second as a speaker, and it was awesome.

I love coming to OOW as there are so many things to do. Here is a partial list of this year’s activities:

  • Met friends from all over the world (I don’t want to name names because I’ll miss a lot of people, but there are quite a few friends that I usually meet only in conferences like that)
  • Hung out with the ACE people (joined the ACE activities, spent some time at the ACE hub, etc.)
  • Had meetings with a bunch of people (existing customers, potential customers, partners, Oracle User Group representatives…)
  • Went to all kind of different receptions, lunches and dinners (and boy, did I eat too much this year)
  • Met Oracle people (for technical questions and support issues)
  • Found potential speakers and invited them to come and speak in Vancouver
  • This year I didn’t spend a lot of time in the demo ground, but it’s definitely something I do most years
  • Oh, yes, and I went to some sessions (I think I’ve been to 1 lab, 3 OOW/CodeOne sessions and 2 OTW sessions, plus my own session)

This year, the focus was peeking into Oracle 19c (with some cool features) and autonomous stuff ,including a really cool innovative bridge 🙂 But there were lots of other stuff as well, like optimization stuff, tracing, development (Java, Python, APEX) and more.
I’m already working on a few posts related to stuff I heard here, but it might take a while until I actually publish them.
I hope to come again next year (that’s the plan anyway), and go to a few other conferences in the area before that.
Hope to see you there.
